The house is in a quiet area just 500 metres from the medieval old town, among Etruscan and medieval towns, well placed for visiting Viterbo, 25 minutes by car, and Rome, 40 minutes.

- The medieval quarter perched above the gorge, the cathedral, the fountains. You walk there.
- Lake Vico
- Nature reserve, beaches, paths through the beech woods. Restaurants on the shore.

- Palazzo Farnese, one of the most important Renaissance residences in Italy, with its gardens.

- The Roman amphitheatre carved entirely out of tufa rock, the necropolis, the mithraeum.

The house is open all year. In the colder months there are the hot springs, the Cimini woods, seasonal produce and the Ronciglione Carnival.

The Viterbo hot springs
The area is rich in thermal sites: Bullicame, Tuscia Terme, Bagnaccio, Thermae Oasi and Terme dei Papi, with large pools for swimming.
Many sites also allow evening and night entry, so you can relax in the thermal water under the stars, all year round and even in midwinter.

Lake Vico and the Cimini woods
The Lake Vico Nature Reserve is a volcanic lake ringed by beech, chestnut and hazel woods, with easy paths that suit children too.
A little further on is the UNESCO-listed beech forest of Monte Cimino. In autumn the woodland colours are at their best.
October and November
Chestnuts, hazelnuts and new olive oil
The Cimini hills are chestnut and hazelnut country: in October the villages around here hold their festivals, and the one in Soriano nel Cimino is among the best known in Lazio. In November the oil mills open with the new oil.
The roasted hazelnuts at breakfast are our own. We are happy to point you to local producers.
February
The Ronciglione Carnival
Ronciglione has one of the best-known historic carnivals in Lazio, with parades and masks. On carnival days the town fills up.
From the house you do not need the car: the centre is 500 metres away. For those weekends it is wise to book ahead.

The medieval San Pellegrino quarter and the Papal Palace.

Friday evening
Arrival and check-in. On request, an aperitivo supper with local produce.
Saturday
Breakfast, a visit to Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola, lunch in a trattoria and an afternoon at the Viterbo hot springs. Dinner in the old town, on foot.
Sunday
Breakfast, a walk at Lake Vico or in the beech forest, and departure in the afternoon. Rome is 40 minutes away.
